Transition to Kanban – A “Real-world” Experience Report

Scrum, XP, and Beyond: One Development Team’s Experience Adding Kanban to the Mix – click image for a PDF of the text-version experience report I submitted for the LSSC2010 conference proceedings. The slides for the presentation I gave there were an updated version of my “What is Kanban?” (see below) Agile Denver 2009 presentation that reflected added experience, but also slimmed down to accommodate the conference time slot. This experience report goes more in-depth covering a 16-month period. Look at my posts under Category “Kanban Metrics” for related discussion and metrics examples during this 16-month period. Note: the full LSSC2010 proceedings are available here.

What is Kanban? – Video Presentation at Agile Denver

What is Kanban? – The “What is Kanban” presentation is one I gave with Brad Swanson at Agile Denver  in Jun, 2009. I’ve learned a lot since, along with the broader lean-agile/kanban community, so this presentation is a bit dated. Still, it provided an overview of key concepts to introduce the kanban method in software development, it contrasts/compares some differences one might see early on as they use kanban to evolve their process, and closed with a brief experience report of my personal use of kanban early on beginning in late 2007.
